When asked to explain a part of his entrance, Roman Reigns used the opportunity to take a shot at Goldberg for his pre-match ritual.
During his entrance, Roman Reigns punches the ground at the top of the stage before making his way down to the ring for his match.
One WWE fan noticed that instead of punching the ground, The Big Dog actually punches a small black pad instead, and questioned why this was the case.
Reigns explained that the pad is used so that he doesn’t damage his hand after doing the ritual multiple times throughout the year, but he also took the opportunity to mock Goldberg for his pre-match ritual as well.
He said on Twitter: “Nothing to explain Nick. It’s a little piece of pad. So I don’t break my hand on steel grate. I gota perform like 48 weeks a year man. So that would be stupid.
“It would be like,🤔 head butting a door before my match level of stupid. Anyway, have a good day Nick. 🤙🏽”
It’s clear that The Big Dog is mocking Goldberg for his pre-match ritual of headbutting a wall or door before making his way to the ring for his match, and the WCW icon caught wind of it.
Goldberg said in a tweet in response to Reigns: “1 of those “C’mon man” ESPN moments. I’ll stick with my old school ways ….seems to of worked 99% of the time. We all have bad days.
“I tend to tap into an entirely different level of intensity. Doesn’t work for everyone. Kinda like the difference between #UGA & GeorgieTech. 🤣”
For those that don’t know, Reigns played football in college for Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, while Goldberg played for the Georgia Bulldogs, two universities which are rivals in the state of Georgia.
Will this Twitter exchange lead to a match between The Big Dog and the WCW icon in the near future?
The two have squared off in the middle of the ring in the past when Goldberg returned to WWE in 2017 ahead of the Royal Rumble, but they never had a singles match against each other.
However, given the recent exchange between Reigns and Goldberg, could Goldberg return to WWE soon for another match? Could The Big Dog be… next?
