Cristiano Ronaldo’s former Real Madrid teammate has revealed the most efficient goal scoring position the Portuguese star likes to start in the field.
Toni Kroos is one of the players who got the chance to play with Ronaldo at Real Madrid before he made the historic move to Juventus in 2018. The pair played alongside each other at the Bernabeu for five good years. Evidently, that was enough time for Kroos to figure out how “CR7” does his magic.
In an interview with The Athletic, Kroos divulged Ronaldo’s preference is to create his move from the left so that he can cut inside on his formidable right foot.
“His (Ronaldo) favorite position was on the left,” Kroos revealed.
“He sometimes played through the middle or next to another striker, but he loved starting from the left and cutting inside best. It came with the freedom of not having to track back all the time. Almost without fail, he justified having that freedom,” Kroos added.
According to the Real Madrid star, Ronaldo learned to master playing from the said position and has made himself almost invincible. Even though there were times that Kroos and their other teammates had to do more running to back Ronaldo’s play, it was all worth it as the legendary forward often paid their sweat off with goals.
“But we also knew that it was worth working that little bit more for him, because he would score two at the other end. He was free in his movement and always paid us back with goals.
During his stint at Real Madrid, Ronaldo scored a total of 450 goals from 348 appearances. He also led the club to four Champions League titles making him a Real Madrid hero even to this day.
Now that Ronaldo is already in his mid 30’s, many are still at awe with the way he seemingly returned to his Real Madrid days. He has broken multiple records for Juventus and now has an evident advantage over Lionel Messi in the European Golden Shoe standings. In fact, he could even surpass Messi’s Champion’s League hat-trick record.
YouTuber “Nouman,” an online entity best known for scrutinizing players’ strategies, recently made a comprehensive analysis of how Ronaldo seemed to have turned back the hands of time.
According to the analysis, Ronaldo a master of blindside Runs , can quickly change directions and has a high yet underrated soccer IQ.
Cristiano Ronaldo ‘has a desire to return to Real Madrid’, says source close to Juventus forward
Cristiano Ronaldo was present at the Bernabeu on Sunday evening to watch Real Madrid move to the top of La Liga with a 2-0 win over Barcelona.
The Portugal star left Los Blancos in 2018 but his reaction to Vinicius Jr.’s goal shows he still has a place in his heart for the Spanish giants.
His departure came as something of a shock. Ronaldo had just helped Real Madrid win their third Champions League trophy in four seasons and was the main man at the biggest club in the world.
But a shift in his relationship with the club’s president, Florentino Perez, convinced him to leave after nine special years.
“I felt it inside the club, especially from the president, that they no longer considered me the same way that they did in the start,” Ronaldo, who joined Juventus in a £99.2 million deal, said, per The Guardian.
“The president looked at me through eyes that didn’t want to say the same thing, as if I was no longer indispensable to them, if you know what I mean.”
Ronaldo is 35 years old now and the final years of his career are approaching.
But according to a source close to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, he hasn’t quite closed the book on his Real Madrid story.
Edu Aguirre, a journalist and friend of Ronaldo’s, claimed on Chiringuito TV on Sunday that the forward wants to return to the Bernabeu one day.
“I know for sure that Cristiano has a desire to return to Real Madrid,” Aguirre said, per Football Italia. “He felt the affection of Madrid when he came to Bernabeu, he was excited.
Aguirre continued by saying that Ronaldo is focused on Juventus but wouldn’t rule out a return to his old club.
“Now he is totally focused on Juventus, but in football, never say never,” he added.
“I don’t know what will happen in the future, nobody can know.”
