World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has responded to criticism about the comments he made earlier this week on his Instagram live show with regards to the effects of positive thoughts on water and food.
During his chat with friend Chervin Jafarieh as part of his Self Mastery Project, Djokovic said that toxic food and polluted water could be turned healthy with the power of positive thoughts.
His statements gained a lot of attention in the media but also came under criticism from former player turned commentator Mary Carillo and other tennis journalists such as Jon Wertheim and Ben Rothenberg. Djokovic was back on his show on Friday with another guest Jay Shetty, during which he spoke about his comments and the criticism that he received.
The 17 time Grand Slam champion made it clear that what he said on the live chat was solely his perception of life and he only wanted to share his journey with others so that it may help them and inspire them, adding that he was not trying to preach anything.
Chervin Jafarieh also spoke about the criticism saying that Djokovic’s statement was used against him and that it is the way most people attacked others.
Djokovic has come under criticism for some of his other comments as well recently. He had also said that he was not sure if he would like to take a vaccine for the coronavirus in case it was required for travel purposes.
Those comments of his came under the scanner with a top health official in Serbia saying that Djokovic’s position and fame made it easy for his statements to influence the perception of his fans and followers with regards to vaccination.
“I’m Sorry For The Other Sons” – Novak Djokovic’s Mother on Neglecting Her Sons
Beyond the shadows of doubt, Djokovic is one of the most successful athletes in the world. Behind his phenomenal triumph, there’s an army of a team working for him, so that he could live his dreams. The key people in his team are his parents. They have dedicated their lives to his tennis, by doing so, Novak Djokovic’s two younger brothers were left behind.
Recently, his mother Dijana Djokovic was in conversation with Blick. She stated, the entire family was busy in fulfilling Novak’s dreams, and in the process of doing it, the family couldn’t spare enough time for Marko and Djordje Djokovic. They are also professional tennis players.
“Everything was just about Novak. We neglected his two younger brothers because we often spontaneously directed our plans towards Novak. Once Marko and Djordje should go to a camp in Barcelona. But we canceled it because the whole family flew to Miami the next morning to be with Nole,” Dijana said.
And now, World Number one Novak Djokovic’s mother is remorseful for not spending enough time with her other two sons. They were equally talented, but they couldn’t establish themselves on the tennis tour to a greater extent. As most of their time was spent in fulfilling Novak’s demands.
“He needed us and we wanted to make him feel like we were behind him. Then he reached the final – it was a key experience. From then on we gave everything to him. I’m sorry for the other sons, they were talented too. But we couldn’t support them too. My husband ran out of reserves. We had no strength to do it again like with Novak,” she added.
