Roger Federer was involved in a thrilling game against John Millman on Friday in the third round of the 2020 Australian Open. A match that was a treat for the fans. It turned out to be a delight to everyone who watched, which included Rafael Nadal.
Nadal, who eased past Pablo Carreno Busta in the third round, said that Federer’s match against John Millman was “impossible” to miss.
“I stayed awake to watch Roger Federer and John Millman, it was impossible to miss the match like that,” Nadal said after his win against Carreno. “It was emotional in the end and I enjoyed the battle. Millman is a fighter, it seems he never stops running. He was smiling for the entire encounter, with a positive mind and a great character on the court.”
Rafael Nadal improved with personal motivation
Nadal and Federer, along with Novak Djokovic have been on top of the tennis world for well over a decade now. They have kept competing against each other and kept bettering the other one to stay on top. Nadal said that although observing the other one makes you better, he has always improved with self-motivation.
“I always want to think I have been improving because of my personal motivation and not because of Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. Still, when you have such strong opponents in front of you, the path is a little bit cleaner, observing how good they are and what they are doing better than you, which makes you a better player as well,” the Spaniard said.
