Happy Fools Day Guys! We are notorious sometimes, and this proves đ Tennis World loves Federer as much as y’all do & we hope that the ‘Tennis God’ never retires from tennis.
Just when it was looking like former world number one Roger Federer was back to his best he has made a shocking announcement on Tuesday that his back injury has resurfaced and he will have to undergo surgery to get rid of the problem permanently.
The only positive thing we can get out of this is that it will be a minor surgery and Federer would be able to get back to court at the start of grass season. Federer broke this really bad news by posting it on his official website.

The Swiss star wrote, âI am extremely disappointed to announce that I will be missing entire clay court season as I have to undergo back surgery. I felt severe pain in my back during a practice session yesterday and doctors advised me to have surgery in order to get a permanent solution for this problem.â
The Swiss Maestro added, âI know you guys will be disappointed as much as I am but I have to take this step in order to secure my future and keeping in mind my future goals.
I am hoping that I will back before Wimbledon.â Federer had suffered a lot due to his back problems during last season but he was fully fit since the start of this year. The 32-year-old captured Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships title and then reaches the final in Indian Wells.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion was stunned by Japanâs Kei Nishikori in the quarter-finals in Miami but there were no signs of any back injury during that match. The Swiss Maestro just got back to number four ranking this week but this injury break will be a big blow to his chances of ending the season even in top 8.
If Roger Federer misses the French Open, he will miss first Grand Slam after playing 57 of them consecutively. Its shocking news but we still hope that Federer would be able to come back to ATP Tour before the start of grass court season and would continue to play injury free till the end of this season.
Those readers who are feeling too sad after reading this news should check the date on their computers as they have been made April fool. Sorry guys, I know you are abusing me at the moment for playing with your emotions but I could not resist myself from doing this.

At the pre-draw media conference held at the club, 33-year old De Voest confirmed that after 15 years as a professional, the tie to be played this weekend from 4-6 April would be his last outing in the green and gold. âThis is my 20th Davis Cup tie I will be playing for my country and its fitting here at my home club in Irene, I play that tie and call time on my Davis Cup duties.
Itâs been a memorable journey and I am very proud in what I have achieved,â said De Voest. De Voest also confirmed that he would retire from professional tennis in the next few months but had to meet some on court obligations before hanging up his racket.
âMy wife Carolyn (a Canadian) has just given birth to our first child Morgan and my life has changed. I am now a family man with new goals, objectives and priorities and my last tournament will be in my new home city, Vancouver, Canada,â said De Voest.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced that they would be presenting De Voest with a special Davis Cup award this coming Saturday (5 April) of the tie commemorating his 20th tie. De Voest will be one of only four South African players to have played 20 or more ties for their country.
The other South African players to have achieved this are Cliff Drysdale, Frew McMillan and Wayne Ferreira. Meanwhile South African captain John-Laffnie de Jager said that his team was well prepared for the tie. De Jager could not confirm who would be his second singles player, âI have told all the boys that the second spot is up for grabs and whoever performs best this week will be able to fill that spot.” De Jager has until Thursday to name his final four players out of his five man squad.

De Voest and doubles specialist Raven Klaasen are given choices but the remaining two spots will be filled by Dean OâBrien, Jean Andersen or Ruan Roelofse. Lithuanian captain Rimvydas Mugevicius said his team were adapting well to the altitude and were hitting the ball better each day.
Ricardos Berankis the top ranked Lithuanian player said that he was pleasantly surprised at how well the court was playing and he was feeling quite confident after two days of practice, âThis tie is going to be a tough one.
South Africa have a good team with lots of experience. I donât know the players that well but we have a few more days to watch them in action and strategise accordingly.â With only four players at his disposal, the Lithuanian captain said that he had very little choice but would only decide Thursday who to play in the doubles.
He is expected to play Berankis and his second highest ranked player in the Laurynas Grigelis singles but he could be forced to use both Berankis and Grigelis in the doubles as well as his third and fourth players Lukas Mugevicius and Mantas Bugailiskis are âyoung with very little Davis Cup experience.â The official draw for the tie will take place on Thursday morning at the Irene Dairy Farm at 10h00 where both captains will name their four players and their singles line up and doubles teams.

Tennis – Judy Murray says that she is carving an identity of her own after many years of being known as the mother of Andy Murray and Jamie Murray and she is happy about the same. Speaking to the Herald Scotland, Judy Murray says, “I think what I’m doing now .
. . probably more people have been able to see that I can coach, I work in tennis, I work with kids, I can work with adults. I do know what I’m doing, I do a lot of stuff, I’ve taken tennis into underprivileged or disadvantaged areas – that’s right up my street going and working with kids, I love doing all that stuff – but it’s not something you need to be shouting about and telling people that you do.
But I’ve probably been able to show in the last couple of years that I’m not just Andy Murray’s mum, I have got lots of other things that I do myself and I don’t just travel around the world telling my son what to do, which is what people were saying at one point.” Judy also talks about how proud she feels when people talk good things about her sons off the court as well.
