At least as far as the NBA and it’s players are concerned, most of the league appears to be taking the global pandemic of the coronavirus pretty seriously. Players from across the league have been sharing messages through their social media channels, as well as on the NBA’s main social channel, to engage in social distancing.
With players across the league now free to leave their in-season markets, LeBron James and his family are leaving the city of Los Angeles and going to the fictional African country of Wakanda, from Marvel’s Black Panther comic book and movie. James also tweeted that he needs a vino drinking partner during this hiatus.
James will have plenty of time to get to know his wine collection.
Obviously, James isn’t going to share where he is going for a lot of reasons but it appears getting out of the city is what LeBron and his family are doing as the world tries to slow the spread of this global pandemic.
NBALakers players told to work out at only practice facility or home gym
Los Angeles Lakers players have reportedly been instructed to only work out at either the practice facility or their home gym for safety reasons, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Lakers players are also expected to check in with the team daily.
Lakers superstar LeBron James and his two sons were at the practice facility this past weekend. The NBA suspended the season last Wednesday after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus.
Since then, Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell and Detroit Pistons high-flyer Christian Wood have tested positive as well.
The Lakers had the best record in the Western Conference before the season was put on hold. Behind LeBron and Anthony Davis, the Purple and Gold had a great chance to win the NBA title this season.
LA fans are praying the season starts up again in June or July so the Lakers at least have a shot of winning banner No. 17.
The NBA has begun collecting data on available dates for arenas, practice facilities and G-League venues through the end of August. The league would like to resume the 2019-20 season at some point despite the CDC currently recommending no crowds of 50 or more people for two months.
Should the NBA season resume, the Lakers will be on a one-game losing streak. The Lake Show are coming off a home loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
However, they did defeat the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers prior to their loss to the Nets. Those just so happen to be two of the best teams in the NBA.
