Venus Williams, one of the best women tennis players of all time, has recently been facing several losses. Her loss against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in the first round of the French Open was the latest one. She has not had a very productive 2020. Williams won only one out of the total eight matches that she played this year.
Moreover, the 40-year-old is at the lowest place in the world rankings for nine years. Venus started the season as a no.53 and stands at no.78 currently, 25 places down from where she was.
After a season that was not in her favor, Williams is looking forward to catching some break. She aims to go back, relax, and reevaluate her performance, she says. Moreover, she wishes to work on moving as quickly as possible.
“It’s really just about going back and re-evaluating and moving on as quickly as possible. It’s been a very long year of quarantine. Now I’ll get to rest. I’m looking forward to that.”, the American said.
Venus Williams Gets Ready For The New Season
Even though this year did not seem to be the best for Venus Williams, she still is looking forward to being back in 2021. She seems determined to be back on the court and better than ever. When trying to know if she was intending to carry on playing in 2021, the 40-year-old insisted: “Yes, definitely.”
In June this year, Venus Williams turned 40 with 49 singles titles under her name, last of 2016. She enjoyed her best form for several years.
In 2017, Senior Williams reached the Australian Open and Wimbledon finals, but since then, American has won only one match in her last six Grand Slam tournaments. Nevertheless, she insists on being back on the court in 2021 and will, for sure, be better!
