Andy Murray is working his best to get back on the court as soon as possible. The three-time Slam champion has stopped since the Davis Cup finals staged in Madrid last November and has admitted that his injury proved to be more difficult than expected.
The Scottish champion had to skip the ATP Cup, the Australian Open and all the events in February, hoping to make a comeback in Miami before coronavirus halted all the action in tennis for six weeks. Boris Becker talked about Murray: “If Andy can stay fit then I still think it is possible for him to challenge the world’s best players,” Becker told the Mirror.
“He has to be patient – which is very tough when you have missed so much tennis. He has to build up his physical condition again but he can only do that by getting on the practise courts and playing in tournaments.
“The more tournaments he plays, the more he will play the top guys on a regular basis. Andy isn’t so old. He’s 32 and time is still on his side. I don’t think it’s impossible that we can see him back near the top of the rankings – but of course he must stay fit” – the former World number 1 said.
At the end of November 2019, a television documentary, Andy Murray: Resurfacing, was released on the Amazon Prime platform, detailing Murray’s various attempts to overcome his hip injury over a two-year period from his defeat at Wimbledon in 2017 to his doubles victory at Queen’s Club in 2019.
