The world is still severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Large gatherings are impossible at this moment, which is why graduating students can only settle for a virtual ceremony.
Former U.S. President Barack Obama headlined the event “Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020” which aired on several media outlets on May 16, 2020. One of the special guests included Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
In his speech, James — who was introduced by a student from the school he founded in Akron, Ohio, the “I Promise School” — gave an empowering message to the class of 2020,
“In our poorest neighborhoods, school is about much more than learning,” the Lakers superstar said, via Ella Torres and Mark Osbourne of ABC News.. “Our schools are our safety net. … It’s time to chase every dream.”

LeBron James may not have gone to college, but he certainly knows the value that education holds. That’s why he gave the ultimate gift to his community by building a school for at-risk children to help them with their education.
The world is certainly at a dark place right now and kids may be distraught with the current pandemic. Fortunately, influential personalities like the Lakers player are doing everything they can to help and inspire people amid these trying times.
Surely, LeBron’s message carries a lot of weight and will stick to many children’s minds and hearts. Having someone like him deliver an inspirational speech could certainly go a long way.
James’ off-court work is just as great, if not greater than his on-court accomplishments. The Lakers forward is not afraid to speak his mind on certain societal issues and makes it a point to share his blessings to the community.
