Novak Djokovic incorporated variety in his Instagram sessions by striking up a conversation with good friend and entrepreneur, Chervin Jafarieh. Unsurprisingly, the duo talked about many things spiritual. A conversation heavy on spirituality and energy also featured one of the greatest scientific minds in the history of humanity.
Novak Djokovic Expresses his Admiration for Tesla
Ironic as it may sound given his recent comments, Novak Djokovic expressed his admiration for the genius inventor Nikola Tesla. The Serbian-American has played a massive role in the way of life we observe today.
“One of the people that I admire a lot in my life and I feel that even though I have not lived in his era that has left a huge legacy for all of us; his name is Nikola Tesla, obviously. A lot of people watching this know who he is. He is one of the biggest reasons why we are able to have this life and wireless. Everything wireless is his creation, started with his invention. One of his quotes, actually, that stick with me always is that “One must be sane to think clearly. But one can think deeply and be quite insane.””
Djokovic went on to dissect Tesla’s quote, expressing the importance of the spirituality within us humans.
“He understood the importance of having a sane mind, of being quiet, being calm, the importance of going back to yourself, of trying to be serene, and to be in perfect harmony. And this vibration that will allow you to create. For him, it was important because then he could conceptualize all his devices, all his inventions, the ideas keep on coming. He was connected to the field.”
While this may rub some people the wrong way, it is necessary we realize that Novak Djokovic is talking about spirituality here. Spirituality does not equate to a rejection of science, it is simply a way of life for the Serbian.
A few days back, Djokovic invoked the wrath of the public by saying he was considering not taking a vaccine for the COVID-19 disease if the time came to do so. Despite being a huge fan of the man, I wish he had kept his thoughts to himself this once. Especially in times as precarious as the present.
‘I’ve been doing it for a decade’ – Novak Djokovic reveals secret behind his supreme mental strength
World number one Novak Djokovic has revealed the key role that meditation plays in his supreme mental strength both on and off the court.
Djokovic is well-known for being perhaps the toughest player tennis has ever seen in the biggest moments, with no better illustration of it being when he won Wimbledon despite Roger Federer having two match points against him in the final.
When asked in a webchat by ATP rival Fabio Fognini about what helps him summon the calm and confidence he needed in those moments, Djokovic revealed all.
“Breathing exercises are a lot more useful than people think,” Djokovic explained.
“A proper breathing rhythm is a key to understanding and improving our own mental, physical and emotional statuses.
“I do it when I need serenity or after I wakes up, in order to have more dynamic energy.
“Meditation isn’t a religious thing, it’s rather something personal that I do to stay healthy, especially given the sensory and informational overload we experience in the contemporary world.
“I’ve been doing it for a decade, and it’s been useful both on and off-court.”
