It’s been just a few days since the NBA suspended play due to the novel coronavirus, but Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James already seems to be missing the game he loves.
On Saturday, James took to Instagram to post a heartfelt message about basketball.
It wasn’t all that long ago that James said he would not play in games if fans were not allowed in NBA stadiums due to the highly contagious disease.
When he expressed that sentiment, there’s no way he could have known that just days later, the NBA would suspend play entirely due to the coronavirus.
At the time of the suspension, the NBA announced that the league would reassess the situation in 30 days. As news worldwide reports a continued spread of the disease, it seems very possible that the suspension will last beyond the initial 30 days.
Until James and the rest of his Lakers teammates are able to return to the court, there are sure to be many more NBA stars who express how much they miss the game.
As for fans, there’s no doubt that they miss watching the teams they love just as much.
Ultimately, what matters most is that everyone stays safe during this trying time. One day, James will again don the purple and gold in front of adoring fans at Staples Center.
Right now, it’s just not entirely clear when that day will come.

LeBron James sent the league into pandemonium when he left his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers for the bright lights of the Los Angeles Lakers. In his year and a half with the Lakers,
LeBron has made plenty of amazing memories with the Lakers and will continue to make plenty more as he continues yet another MVP worthy season with the team. Also, this year could lead to the team’s first NBA title in a decade.
Let’s look back at his most memorable moments.
LeBron’s first game
This was both LeBron’s first game and loss with the Lakers. However, just like what we have come to expect from the King, he put on a show. He totaled twenty-six points, twelve rebounds, and six assists on fifty-six percent shooting.
While the result of the game was disappointing, similar to the rest of the first year of LeBron’s tenure with the Lakers, the game had its high points. These include a sequence of dunks beginning with LeBron James, followed by Damian Lillard getting a dunk of his own on the next possession, and concluded with James throwing the hammer down on the Blazers in retaliation to Lillard’s dunk.
Some other bright spots from this game were Josh Hart who had twenty points, Brandon Ingram who scored sixteen, Kyle Kuzma who had fifteen, and both Rajon Rondo and Javale McGee put up thirteen points for the Lakers.
A weakness that shined bright for the majority of the 2018 season was a lack of defense from the Lakers, allowing Nik Stauskus to score twenty-four. This game showed that there was a lot of potential on the roster, they would just need time to mesh together.
It also began the LeBron James era in Los Angeles, giving the fans the light at the end of the tunnel they had been desperately searching for almost the past five years.
