MEGHAN MARKLE’s first encounter with Kate Middleton was said to have been a positive one, despite the Sussexes’ current broadside shots at the Royal Family. Meghan Markle, 40, has reportedly endured a strained relationship with Kate Middleton following a disagreement over dresses for her wedding, but when the couple first met, the future Duchess of Sussex only had one word to say.
Prince Harry, 37, revealed the details of Meghan’s meeting with Kate during the Sussexes’ engagement interview with the BBC’s Mishal Hussain. The Duke of Sussex formally announced his engagement to Ms Markle in November 2017. Ex-royal editor of The Sunday Express, Camilla Tominey, broke the news Harry and Meghan had been dating in October 2016.
The Duke of Sussex told the BBC: “It was exciting I mean I’ve — you know I’d been seeing her for a period of time when I literally didn’t tell anybody at all. “And then William was longing to meet her and so was Catherine, so you know, being our neighbours, we managed to get that in a couple of — well quite a few times now and Catherine has been absolutely…”
But before the Duke of Cambridge’s younger brother could finish his sentence, his now wife interjected to say: “Wonderful.” Ms Markle, who now has two children with Prince Harry, went on to praise other members of the Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth II.
She said: “I think, you know, to be able to meet her through his lens, not just with his honour and respect for her as the monarch, but the love that he has for her as his grandmother, all of those layers have been so important for me so that when I met her I had such a deep understanding and of course incredible respect for being able to have that time with her.
“And we’ve had a really — she’s — she’s an incredible woman.”The Sussexes tied the knot little over five months after their engagement announcement at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Since their engagement interview, tensions between Harry and Meghan and other royals have only grown.The estranged Duke and Duchess of Sussex are also set to release a set of Megxit memoirs to tell their side of the story.Royal expert, Ingrid Seward, has warned Harry’s older brother is likely to be affected “the worst” by the books.
