Many tennis personalities praised Andy Murray’s effort in the quarter-finals match against the Romanian Marius Copil in the Washington’s Citi Open quarter-finals. The American tennis coach Nick Bollettieri wrote: ‘Fantastic effort by @andy_murray coming back after hip surgery and winning his 3rd consecutive 3 set match at the @CitiOpen.
Last night’s match lasted 3 hours and finished at 3am. What a fighter! Congratulations Andy. Well done!’
Paul Annacone, who worked with Roger Federer from 2010 to 2013, tweeted: ‘When something you love and live for is taken away and you get another chance to enjoy and embrace it @andy_murray continues to amaze and impress with his grit and his emotion let’s enjoy it thanks Andy.’
Jelena Djokovic, the 13-time Grand Slam winner Novak’s wife, praised Murray as well.
‘Go Andy, this is what love for sport is!’ Judy Murray, Andy’s mum, wrote: ‘Brutal.’ Andy admitted he feels tired after long match: ‘Body doesn’t feel great right now; I’ve had a few long matches.
The weather has been tricky for the scheduling. But It’s a very difficult position to be coming back from a long injury to be finishing matches at 3 o’clock in the morning.
By the time you finish doing recovery and everything it’s 5.30 or 6 o’clock in the morning.
I’ll try to sleep as late as I can but with your body clock you might get a few hours sleep. It’s like playing two matches in a day.’
