Nike and Adidas are two of the most popular tennis shoe brands. A physically demanding sport such as tennis requires the right kind of equipment, such as shoes, in order to play at the highest level.
We have been seeing the best players in the world use the best tennis shoes available in the market as it is a major factor that affects their performance.
Tennis stars such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Serena Williams have been proponents of the best brands available.
Lets now take a look into the tennis shoes preferred and worn by some of the best players on the planet.
Roger Federer shoes
For Federer, his shoe obsession started when he signed his first deal with sports manufacturing company Nike as a teenager.
Since then the Swiss maestro has always been seen wearing a Nike shoe let it be the Majors or any other ATP tournament. Until recently Federer was seen wearing Nike tennis shoes at the recently concluded Australian Open.
The Swiss legend also has his initials ‘RF’ on almost all the tennis shoes he wears.
However, for the upcoming Tokyo Games, Federer is considering to wear ‘On’ footwear – a Zurich based company in which he has bought some stakes. The exclusively designed shoes will be called, ‘THE ROGER’ or ‘ROGER’.
Rafael Nadal shoes
For years the American company has been sponsoring Nadal and one of the most appealing part of his on-court gear has been his Nike shoes.
Exclusively made for him, his shoes always carry his logo – the raging bull. He was last seen wearing NikeCourt Air Zoom Cage 4 at the 2020 Australian Open. The Spaniard had signed a 10-year deal with Nike back in 2008.
The details of his new deal, however, are unknown.
Novak Djokovic shoes
The current World No.1 until 2018 was spotted wearing German sports manufacturing company Adidas. However, in January the same year, he switched to Japanese footwear brand ASICS.
He has collaborated with the research and development team of ASICS for six months and now has exclusively made shoes just for him.
The Serbian currently wears the Asics Court FF 2 Novak. The shoes were made to honour Novak for his successful career.
For the clay season, Djokovic will switch to the Asics French Open Court FF 2 Novak.
Serena Williams shoes
Like Federer and Nadal, Serena has been for years now wearing Nike shoes. She currently uses the Nike Flare 2 HC – her own signature shoe made to celebrate her achievements both on and off-court.
She signed her initial deal with Nike back in 2004 and has since then been regularly using them until recently at the Australian Open this year.
Serena and former tennis player and legend Boris Becker used to don Puma tennis shoes.
