The wait is over as we are weeks away from one of the biggest heavyweight rematch in recent times. The two Goliaths of heavyweight boxing, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will square off once again to finish the unfinished business.
The first encounter was one of the most epic battles the fans have seen inside the boxing ring. It truly marked the return of the Gypsy King against an opponent who is notorious for knocking guys out in devastating fashion. Fury outclassed Wilder and according to many fans won the fight.
On the other hand, Wilder knocked down Fury multiple times and as per some fans, Fury did not get up before the allowed 10 seconds. Those arguments are all in the past as we look forward to the rematch to find out who is indeed the better boxer of the two.
There have been a few narratives going into the rematch. The boxing fans are split between Fury and Wilder, trying to predict the outcome of the rematch. Recently, Anthony Joshua gave his verdict on the rematch and talked about how Fury can overcome Wilder in the rematch.
Anthony Joshua Predicts Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 2
Anthony Joshua believes Tyson Fury is going to get his hands raised in the rematch. Although he respects the power that Wilder brings to the table he thinks Fury with superior boxing skills can get the job done against Wilder.
“I believe that Fury will win because, Wilder has shown you can’t blink for a second with him because it just takes one punch, against Ortiz. But it shows that a good boxer, who’s young and fresh and can follow out a game plan can be victorious seven to ‘x’ amount of rounds.”
Wilder is not the best boxer in the world when it comes to skills and he is well aware of that. But as he says he only needs a few seconds to end the fight and he does not have to be perfect for 12 rounds. However, Joshua believes Fury is evasive and smart enough to inflict enough damage to win the fight while evading the power punch of Wilder. Joshua explained:
“Boxing is about hitting and not getting hit and Ortiz got hit with a big punch but Fury’s quite evasive, Fury’s a lot bigger, Fury boxes back and flicks out his jab. So he is quite difficult to hit. Fury fought Wilder the first time after a long lay off. I think Fury’s taken some relatively soft touch fights, got his confidence back and going into the new year as a new man, new team, new mindset. He’s over his mental health issues. So he must feel something in him that is new and he wants to be the new heavyweight champion of the world. So I think Fury has a good chance to beat Wilder providing he follows his game plan through the 12 rounds.”
Well, the heavyweight champion has picked his bet for the Fury vs Wilder rematch. Who do you think gets the job done?
“I Would Do Bad Things to Conor”: Kamaru Usman Responds to Potential Fight Against Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor stepped into the cage with Donald Cerrone in a welterweight fight. He completely outclassed Cerrone at a weight class where he has only two fight experience. Now two narratives can be drawn from the victorious return of Conor at UFC 246.
Many fans believe that just because Conor put up an impressive performance against Cerrone it does not mean he would do the same against the likes of Kamaru Usman and Tyron Woodley. And some fans believe otherwise and are optimistic about Conor’s future at the welterweight division.
At welterweight division, Conor has two very intriguing matchups. Conor can either fight for the BMF title against Jorge Masvidal or challenge the welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman. It’s very unlikely that Conor gets the title fight ahead of Masvidal, but that fight is certainly on the table for Conor. And he has shown interest in achieving the third title in UFC too. However, the welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman is not entertaining that matchup.
A fight with Conor McGregor Will Not be Fair: Kamaru Usman
Kamaru Usman showed up on the JRE podcast recently and talked about the fights that intrigue him the most. When asked about the potential megafight with Conor McGregor, Usman said:
“You can’t take anything away from Conor. He has put himself in that status to be that guy. But can you imagine me fighting Conor? Like that would not be fair. It would not be fair. I give everyone has a puncher’s chance. But it would not be fair.”
Kamaru Usman does not believe that Conor is ideal for the welterweight division. He also stated that if Khabib can dominate him at 155, then he would inflict even more damage at 170. Usman also made it clear that if he takes on Conor he is not going only for takedowns. Usman is very confident that he would hurt Conor badly both on the feet and the ground.
“You saw what Khabib did to him at 155. Now imagine doing that to me at 170. Now I am not just gonna take him down. I am gonna march forward, I am gonna hit this guy, I am gonna beat on him, I am gonna take him down. I would do some bad things to Conor. It’s not that I don’t like the guy. I mean Conor is Conor.” explained Usman.
