Grand Slam champion Venus Williams has put out a video on her Instagram page, emulating sister Serena Williams’ dance moves during some backyard tennis.
Serena, who is currently second in the all-time list of Grand Slam title-holders in the women’s game, had earlier shared a video on her Instagram page, breaking into an impromptu jig after hitting a couple of her trademark forehands during a training session.
How Venus Williams took sister Serena’s lead
Serena’s video drew more than 300,000 likes in no time. It also drew comments from her coach Patrick Mouratoglou and her husband Alexis Ohanian, among others.
Those liking her video included Venus, three-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka, British supermodel Naomi Campbell and hip-hop queen Ciara.
As the footage of Venus’ video plays, the audio picks up strains of the same number that Serena grooved to.

What’s more, Venus tagged her post with the same message as her sister did. “I was told I don’t share enough of my training. I hope this helps y’all know I’m serious,” the elder Williams sister wrote.
Venus tagged Serena Williams in her Instagram post.
Venus tagged her sister to the post as well. On the evidence of the fact that their posts were shared within a day of each other, it would seem that the sisters had challenged themselves to an impromptu dance-off challenge.
Venus’s post also drew numerous likes, including one from her Tour rival Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia.
A year older than her sister, at 40, Venus has brushed off retirement rumors. She continues to plug away in the women’s circuit, with an eye on more titles.
The 2000 Wimbledon women’s singles champion didn’t have a memorable 2020 season though, losing in the opening round of the Australian Open in straight sets to 16-year-old compatriot Coco Gauff.
She also went out in the first round of the French Open, going down to Slovakian Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in straight sets.
Venus fared no better in front of her home crowd at the US Open, exiting in the opening round after a straight-set loss to Czech Karolina Muchova.
However, as the video would bear evidence, her losses last year haven’t dimmed her enthusiasm to compete for titles.
