Roman Reigns is currently off WWE TV and there is no indication when he will return right now.
The Big Dog took the decision to miss WrestleMania 36 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and given his health history and current family situation, that was the right call.
Reigns has battled leukemia twice in his life and his wife has recently given birth to another pair of twins taking his child count to five.
Given that COVID-19 is especially dangerous to those with compromised immune systems, Reigns had to pull out of his Universal title bout with Goldberg.
According to Dave Meltzer, Vince McMahon has instructed WWE performers to not mention Reigns’ name on air for the time being.
Meltzer wrote in the Wrestling Observer: “Notes from the 4/10 TV tapings in Orlando. The show opened with Strowman out. He said that when opportunity knocks, you open the door. Right now the instructions on television are to not ever mention Reigns. Strowman said that he took the door off its hinges and put Goldberg down for good.”
In a strange, Vince McMahon way, it makes sense why WWE wouldn’t mention him while they’re focusing on the talent that are on their programme right now.
Reigns has no ongoing storylines and there is no set date for when he will return.
Given that stay-at-home orders are being extended all over the world in a bid to combat the coronavirus, Reigns is likely to take an extended period of leave from WWE and that’s sensible.
Of course, this only really makes sense in a WWE world. The fact WWE has failed to address the coronavirus full stop on TV is peculiar, to say the least.
The company is moving forward with their programming and after another week of live shows next week, they will move to a taping schedule that will see them tape two shows a night.
Money in the Bank is also going ahead on Sunday, May 10, but WWE have announced it will take place at their WWE HQ in Stamford, Connecticut, not the Performance Center.
It’s being dubbed ‘climb the corporate ladder’ and the matches will culminate on the building’s roof!
