Serena Williams never stops extending her influence. In the last year, the tennis icon has taken up yet another new venture.
As an extension of Williams’ eponymous fashion brand, the star launched Serena Williams Jewelry, offering a line of necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings featuring ethically-sourced diamonds.
“If you’re like me, you hold on to your jewelry forever,” Williams tells In The Know.
“A lot of my favorite pieces are sentimental, but also I’ve learned great jewelry is timeless.”
Her latest jewelry collection, which just arrived in time for the holidays, is called By My Side.
The line pulls inspiration from the relationship between Serena and her daughter, Olympia, celebrating the unique, special bond between mothers and daughters.
“For me, the most inspiring element of being a mom is seeing myself and my husband in Olympia,” Williams says.
“She has my exact strong arms. She came out looking like a little baby that had been to the gym! It’s really made me appreciate my body in a whole new way.”
The capsule collection includes eight special pieces, which are also available in sets to share with young daughters.
“My favorite piece in this collection are the Ma Ma studs,”
Serena Williams says. “I am so proud to be Olympia’s Mama, so I wear these all of the time.”
Along with her 23-time Grand Slam status, fashion moments like her custom Off-White x Nike tutu dress at the 2018 U.S. Open and her Atelier Versace gown paired with Off-White Air Force 1 sneakers she wore to the 2019 Met Gala have also solidified Williams’ status as a fashion icon both on and off the court.
“I love expressing myself through fashion, it’s a true passion of mine and I’ve been doing this now for years.
I love designing things that celebrate the smart, strong and confident women in our community — pieces that I love wearing myself and that celebrate authenticity and diversity,” she explained.
From her multiple fashion brands to playing in tournaments across the globe, it is no secret Williams’ has a lot on her plate.
But she always makes sure to put herself first, as a mother and as a strong woman.
“A lot of women are naturally caretakers, and sometimes our own needs can become our last priority,” she says.
“I am a firm believer that we must show up for ourselves first in order to really be our best selves with our children, family, friends and co-workers. “
