The 39-year-old Serena Williams and her former boyfriend, the 48-year-old American rapper Common (known also as Lonnie Rashid Lynn), met each other at the Lyric Opera in Chicago to speak about philanthropy and entrepreneurship.
They were involved in a relationship from 2007 to 2010, then they split and Serena’s life is much different now as in 2017 she got married to Alexis Ohanian and they became parents.
They are still friends and in a recent interview, Common said: “I have to say not every one of my ex-girlfriends is still friend with me but with some of them I am.”
[With Serena], it was kind of an mutual break-up but she initiated it. It’s okay though, we’ve got a great understanding and I care about her as a person … so we can keep that friendship.
