Several times in the last years, Roger Federer asked people, through the many interviews he does during the tennis season, to keep privacy for his children.
Federer is not a person who likes to post pictures on social media featuring himself involved in off-court life, unlike for example the American Serena Williams who created a personal account on Instagram and Twitter to her daughter Olympia just a few days after she was born in September.
Olympia already has thousands of followers on social media platforms, posts are published by Serena or Alexis Ohanian, the 23-time Grand Slam singles winner’s husband. Federer instead doesn’t want to share anything like that.
For example, once he was asked if he would like to do at some stage a documentary about his life and tennis career, but he didn’t agree with it as it would mean to get his family involved into it.
When walking on the street with his children – sons Leo and Lenny, girls Myla and Charlene – paparazzi show up, which Federer really hates.
‘Sometimes we had to say people to stop taking pics of me or kids. Many times they do it because they like it, but it worries me a little bit.
You have to be respectful. I try to make my children grow normally. It’s normal that they want to take pics, but there are some limits that cannot be passed’, he told Tages Anzeiger.
