Get you a friend like Rafael Nadal and you will never have to worry about anything you need when you are around them.
The Spanish tennis player advanced out of the first round of the U.S. Open on Tuesday with a commanding victory over John Millman and Chung Hyeon at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday.
And in Nadal’s on-court interview after the match, he very casually shared a detail about his friendship with Andy Murray.

While the tennis world has eyes on the final Grand Slam tournament of the year in New York, Murray — who’s in the process of coming back from hip surgery earlier this year — is playing in Mallorca, Spain in the ATP Challenger Tour event at the Rafa Nadal Academy. Murray also won Tuesday, and, in support of his friend from afar, Nadal offered up anything he could to the Scottish player, including his boat.

“Happy for holding a great event at my house, I’m very happy to have Andy Murray playing there. That’s great news for us, of course, but for him and the world of sport. To have him back on the tennis court is great news. I wish him all the very best.
Nadal also sent Murray a number for one of his best friends in case he needed someone to accompany him while checking out what Spain has to offer.
When asked if Nadal had any suggestions for what Murray should do with his free time on the Spanish island, he said:
“Well, I text him a couple of days ago, and I gave the number of one of my best friends, and I offered him the boat if he wants to go out. … He has been there a couple of times, he has been practicing in the academy. He knows how he moves, and he knows that just with a text message to me, anything that I can offer him will be ready.

What a great friend.
In his post-match press conference, Nadal was asked a follow-up question about giving Murray his boat and if he trusts him with it.
Nadal said:
“I think he used it already in the past, no? I just text him when I knew that he wanted to play at the academy. I just text him a couple of days ago and saying, ‘If you need anything, just let me know, and you want to go out with the boat or anything that I can help you [with], just let me know’.
“For us in the academy, it is great news that he’s there, of course. And I saw the court yesterday where he was playing, it was a full crowd. I think it’s great for him, great for us. And For me personally, as I said a couple of times, just happy for him because, honestly, he did a lot of things to try to be back on court and keep playing tennis.

So the decision to go and play Challenger is because he feels well, my feeling, the way that I see it, because if you don’t feel it very well, you play normal tour and just let’s see how it goes, no? But if one player like Andy is able to go and play at Challenger, it’s because he really, I think, physically he feels well and he wants to play matches.”
