US U. S. Open 2019 See Which Of Your Favorite Tennis Stars That Rock The Best Outfits…
The WTA apparel evolves at a fast pace and the US Open is famous for disrupting tennis fashion conventions. Marija Zivlak of Women’s Tennis Blog will give us a look at ground-breaking styles ready to rule the courts at Flushing Meadows in the next two weeks.
Naomi Osaka will return to the place of her first Grand Slam triumph in custom NikeCourt x Sacai apparel, an authentic outfit that combines futuristic Japanese fashion and superior performance features, fitting to the world number one’s star power accumulated in the past 12 months.
Sacai brings designer Chitose Abe’s signature hybridization to the body-hugging top and bi-layer pleated skirt, while Nike ensures comfort with Dri-Fit fabric that moves sweat away from the skin and keeps athletes cool during intense matches. The ensemble’s unconventional silhouette brings depth and dimension to sportswear, putting the 21-year-old Osaka on the track of tennis fashion domination.
Sloane Stephens and other NikeCourt Team players will wear mostly purple separates that communicate the essence of New York City through subtle signals. The 2017 US Open champion is seen here in the Nike Fall Graphic NY Tank, made from an open-hole mesh fabric with the print inspired by torn posters found around the tournament’s host city. The top’s pair are the Nike Fall Slam NY Print Shorts that give a visual illusion of being a pleated skirt.
What’s more, Stephens will debut a tennis-adapted Air Jordan VIII in the women’s-specific white aqua colorway. The sneaker’s basketball roots are seen in unique vamp straps, side panel clips and high-cut collar, while the hybrid model includes the midsole and outsole from the Nike Air Zoom Zero tennis shoe.
Once again Maria Sharapova’s US Open dress is so elegant that it could be worn on special occasions.
The tennis fashion icon continues to be honored by Nike with two US Open dresses — one for the day and one for night sessions. The 2019 design for Flushing Meadows is inspired by dresses worn in New York’s posh club, the historic Studio 54. It comes in colors gridiron (dark) and monarch (light).
Garbiñe Muguruza’s Climalite-equipped adidas New York Dress is a 3-in-1 piece with glow green sports bra and shortie included. The black fabric features an NYC-inspired pattern.
Angelique Kerber’s pleated adidas New York Skirt is sintered by the skyscrapers of the metropolis. The German three-time major champion will pair it with the adidas New York Top, unique for its full open elongated mesh back that exposes a coordinating sports bra.
Caroline Wozniacki will combine the skirt with the adidas New York Tank, which includes an open hole mesh overlay in the shape of a bra.
Ashleigh Barty and Kiki Bertens will sport Fila’s Awning collection that combines pops of fuchsia purple and orange peel offset by traditional navy.
The above preview image shows the reigning French Open champion Barty in the Fila Awning Jacket, a full-zip navy design with stand-up collar and diagonal three-color stripes at sleeves, and the Awning A-Line Skirt, a simple sporty silhouette with moisture wicking properties.
Bertens promotes the Fila Awning Dress, a racerback design with colorblocked top and a solid navy skirt accented by fuchsia purple side stripes.
Karolina Pliskova will launch the fourth edition of Fila’s P.L. Rolando line that celebrates the work and legacy of the company’s original creative director, Pierluigi Rolando, famous for being the first person to bring bold color to the tennis court in 1973. The US Open 2019 P.L. Rolando clothes feature Fila’s traditional red, white and navy palette, finished with pops of cerulean and stripe detailing, as seen here in the Czech’s racerback tank and skort.
New Balance gives a unique twist to tennis fashion by partnering with American shirt-making company Gitman Vintage. Coco Gauff will wear this printed ensemble that represents an aerial view of New York tennis courts, including Central Park, Park Slope, Canal Street, and more.
American Danielle Collins is expected to debut the GV x NB Tournament Slambray Dress, New Balance’s recognizable silhouette with Gitman Vintage’s contribution being the tattersall detail at the neckline and back, a classic check customized here in the colors of the courts from the four Grand Slams.
Venus Williams’ latest EleVen print draws inspiration from the mythical phoenix bird. The seven-time Grand Slam champion with two titles at the US Open tends to pick a different outfit for every match, while the collection’s promotional photo shows her in the Phoenix Volley Dress.
Lotto-clad players led by Elise Mertens will wear the Pop Flower collection. The colorful new dress includes Lotto’s common design feature — an insert on the skirt’s back that adds a flutter effect and a touch of sensuality.
Julia Goerges will promote Asics’ Fall collection, which includes a dress, tank top and skort. The items are equipped with Gel-Cool technology that accelerates ventilation and improves sweat management. The German’s shoe model will be the Solution Speed FF.
Bethanie Mattek-Sands hasn’t managed to enter the main draw in singles, but the American made a style statement during qualifying with the Born Free collection created in collaboration with Lucky in Love. Just as in these promo images, the defending mixed doubles champion wore the Tie Back Tank, featuring a rock ‘n’ roll inspired print on the front, and the checkered Hi-Speedway Pleated Skirt, a high-rise design with asymmetrical hem.
The WTA players will be confident in their apparel and style as the US Open main-draw play unfolds in the coming fortnight.
