Naomi Osaka hasn’t won 3 slams by accident. Besides being hugely talented, the Japanese sensation puts a lot of effort in getting in the best possible shape and compete against top players all over the world.
During a recent interview, Naomi’s trainer Yukata Nakamura explained Osaka’s schedules. The Japanese revealed that in “normal” times, Naomi dedicates more than 4 hours to improve her fitness.
“Her daily schedule basically includes eating breakfast, warming up for 1 from 9 a.m., playing tennis for 1 hour and a half and training for 2 hours,” he said.
Obviously, these schedules are not followed during the tournaments as Naomi needs to keep her energy for the matches.
However, the former world no.1 intensifies her routine during the off-season.
Naomi going for more than she achieved at the US Open
According to Yukata, the Japanese star doesn’t want to “just” maintain her fitness, but she wants to improve her condition.
“She is training to improve her performance, rather than just maintaining it, so we are working to achieve a goal beyond what she attained in the U.S. Open,” he added.
Naomi has decided not to compete in the WTA500 tournament in Adu Dhabi, while she will head straight to Australia to try to conquer her 4th slam.
