The Japanese professional Naomi Osaka is one of the key figures in women’s tennis today. Etching her name over 3 Grand Slam trophies, the 23 years-old is currently at the Number 3 position in the world.
However, the US Open champion believes she is lagging in everything else besides tennis.Naomi came in the limelight when she defeated Serena Williams in the 2018 US Open finals in straight-sets.
She even collected the following 2019 Australian Open title becoming the first Asian to hold the World No. 1 rank.
“Want to become knowledgeable”: Naomi Osaka
Despite losing her top spot, the Japanese player has never lost the attention of the tennis world. Hence, it is not tennis that bothers her, but the world outside of the sport. Osaka aims to equal her life skills with her tennis skills.
“I used to think that everything depended on the game, and now I sort of understand that you have to find balance,” World No. 3 said. “I want to become knowledgeable, to have a vast understanding of things, or even lots of tiny things that amount to one big thing. I want to be a nice person to everyone I meet.”
Naomi has openly mentioned that she is neither an outgoing person nor does have many friends on tour. But it is not just a social life, but rather a comprehension of the multi-verse that the Japanese-born is looking for.
Hopefully, next year will bring her ample opportunities to achieve her personal goals.
Naomi will start next season at Australian Open 2021
Failing to defend her Australian Open title this year, Osaka will want to get that back in 2021. Along with the Grand Slam hunt, she will also have an eye on the top spot in WTA rankings.
But her premier priority is working on her personal life. Naomi explained, “This is putting it in video-game terms, but I think the me right now is sort of at the level 50 of tennis, and everything else in my life is at level five or six. I want to even out my levels.”
One special thing about the Japanese player is that her commitment towards her goals is in indisputable. Therefore, it won’t be a surprise to see a new Naomi in 2021.
As far as tennis is concerned, she will be as fierce as ever.
