American teenager Coco Gauff has established herself as a young and promising tennis star over the last two years. She is just 17-years old right now but has already earned quite a reputation in the sport. Keeping with her meteoric rise, she has now entered the quarter finals of the French Open 2021, playing some brilliant tennis in the process.
Gauff is undoubtedly a child prodigy. She has been the junior No.1 and has defeated the likes of Venus Williams and Naomi Osaka in her career so far. However, the credit for her exceptional performances on the court also goes to her parents who have been mentoring their girl since her childhood.
Who are the parents of Coco Gauff?
World No. 25 Gauff’s parents were impressive athletes themselves. Her father, Corey Gauff, was a basketball player who played at Georgia State, and her mother, Candi Gauff, has been a hurdler and heptathlete at Florida State.
Both of them left their jobs in order to support Coco’s tennis dreams. Corey took up the role of a healthcare executive and later became her daughter’s head coach. Similarly, Candi gave up her profession as well and is now an educator who is helping her daughter.
Apart from Coco, Corey and Candi have two other children as well. Both are boys and are younger than Coco. One is Cody who is 13 and the other one is Cameron who is 8.
Corey and Candi both grew up in Delray Beach, where they are now raising their children. However, Coco grew up in Atlanta before moving back to Delray Beach to focus on her tennis career.
Undoubtedly, both Candy and Cory have been the pillars of Coco’s life. It is because of their support that the tennis world is witnessing such a prolific player today.
