Tennis – Rapper Drake has said that 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams was the inspiration behind his superhit track ‘Back 2 Back’ in an episode of Rap Radar Podcast.
Drake said he was with the American tennis star at the time he wrote the song and the two spoke a lot about the rivalry between her and Russian tennis superstar Maria Sharapova.
He went on to say that Serena asked him to finish the beat that he was working on and wanted him to ensure that the song turns out to be a big hit with the public, adding, “It should not just be something they listen now, it should be something they go back to again after a long time.”
The song did turn out to be a big success and reached the No. 21 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was also nominated for the Grammy award for Best Rap Performance at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.
