The Wimbledon champion looked super-sexy for the fashion shoot. Serena Williams might have took a beating off the court for her muscular frame, but she has bounced back with more confidence than ever.
The tennis champion showed just how sexy she can be in a behind-the-scenes photo from her shoot with New York magazine.
Wearing a cut-out leotard, the 40-year-old suspended herself on two bars, using just one hand to balance as she did the splits for a high-end fashion shoot.
Ever the perfectionist, Serena could still find fault with her poise, as she captioned the shot: “Still working on that toe point @gqlew.” In her interview for the magazine, the star opened up about her glittering tennis career admitting that she’s not someone to pour all over her trophies and in some cases, she’s lost them.
“I have lots of trophies, and I’m just—I’m not that person that needs to see all these trophies,” she said. “I have some in my house here, some in my house there, some I don’t know what happened to ’em. I have my grand-slam trophies…somewhere.”
After winning her 36 Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, Serena surprised us a little as she appeared to concede to pressure from Twitter trolls. Shortly after winning, and after a lot of mean abuse on social media, the tennis champ went and got her eyebrows done after the barrage of abuse.
The 40-year-old shared a video of herself getting her brows seen to, which she captioned: “Lol finally getting them shaped! Hahahha #haters I love you!!! Hahah but I still like them all natural! But for now you win lol’ [sic].”
Serena had received comments such as “Serena Williams may of won but seriously those eyebrows!!” and “I’m currently having a little breakdown over Serena Williams’ eyebrows, they make me want to cry and throw tweezers at her.”
While the tennis star may have given into the trolls this time, she has better things to do with her time than worry about them – such as sunbathing. Shortly after sharing the funny video she upload a snap of herself and her ample cleavage while sunbathing.
She captioned the snap – which sees her in a polka dot bikini top – “Beach day in Sweden #SerenaSlam #renasarmy.” Serena’s eyebrows weren’t the only thing to come under critique following her win – other trolls commented on her manly physic.
But when one troll wrote that Serena “looks like a man”, Harry Potter author J.K Rowling lept to her defence and tweeted: “Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You’re an idiot.”
Following her sixth Wimbledon win, J.K. heaped praise on Serena, describing her as an inspiration to other women.
She tweeted: “I love her. What an athlete, what a role model, what a woman!”
