As we all wait with bated breath for tennis to resume, Novak Djokovic is also itching to entertain the fans with his game once again. The Serbian star, who was at the top of his game before the Coronavirus pandemic hit tennis, was probably the most hit by the cancellation.
Many vouched for him to win all the grand slams this year. Probably his only unassailable challenge would have been facing Rafael Nadal at the French Open (which is still on the cards). However, it seems like Novak’s prime form will go to waste in the quarantine.
Djokovic recently spoke to a Spanish tennis account on Twitter. Therein, he talked about his urge to get back into the sport. Let’s find out what Novak Djokovic had to say about the cancellation of tennis.
What did Novak Djokovic say?
This is what the Serbian star had to say about wanting to return to the game, that too in pretty good Spanish.
“I’m ready to play, but we have to wait some months. I believe. I’m just blessed I’m around my family. I’m happy to be spending some quality time with my family for once, cause we are always traveling”.
While Novak’s Spanish skills were hidden from us till this day, this interview gave us a pretty good glimpse into the multilingual skills of the Serbian star. This was just another reason for his fans to love him even more than they already too.
Talking about his career, Novak was the most successful player in whatever was played of the 2020 tennis season. He won all his matches at the ATP Cup while also swept through the competition to win the Australian Open. Later, he also won the title at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Needless to say, he will be the best positioned once the quarantine ends and tennis resumes. Do you think anyone can challenge him?
Djokovic & Murray Bring The Fun On Instagram Live
With 125 tour-level titles between them, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray united on Friday for a star-studded Instagram Live that included plenty of colourful banter.
Both men dropped in from their respective homes to answer fan questions and playfully rib some of their fellow players. When Nick Kyrgios logged in to watch, Murray noted the Aussie’s recent ink and joked that he’s “not certain about the sleeve tattoo, although you can probably pull it off better than me.”
The current and former No. 1 players in the FedEx ATP Rankings also called out Wawrinka’s attire when he won the 2015 Roland Garros title by defeating Djokovic in the championship match.
”Stan, if you’re watching, I hope you burn those shorts,” Djokovic said, laughing. Murray chimed in by adding that the shorts “were horrific.” Wawrinka, who was watching along, responded in the comments with a laugh emoji.
Djokovic and Murray also built their perfect tennis players during the Instagram Live session. Both men aligned on who they’d select for serve, volley and mental toughness, while also paying their respects to each other on return and backhand.
