Athletes across the globe from various different sports are doing what they can to help out in these dire times. Tennis players are prominent among those, including my personal hero Novak Djokovic. Just today, he announced that he will make a significant donation towards helping out the medical authorities in combating COVID-19.
The coronavirus has caused mayhem in most countries on the planet. It may not be the deadliest disease we have ever come across, but it spreads quicker than any wildfire. The fact that the virus spreads so quickly is causing a lot of chaos in society.
The constantly growing number of cases is overwhelming the medical institutions to a point where they are at full capacity. Add to that the shortage of ventilators in most countries, and we have a grim situation on our hands.
Novak Djokovic has put in a helping hand in these times of distress.
Novak Djokovic lends a helping hand
The World No. 1 is a man of emotion and integrity like few others. It comes as no surprise to see him do his part in helping out the authorities and the community with his wealth.
In attrition, Novak looks towards the light. He looks for solutions and maintains his optimism and positive energy. He is the same off the courts as well.
“The fight is not easy, numbers are not pleasant, but I am convinced that we will manage to make it out of this stronger than before. It is important to remain united in this fight, to help each other, so we can defeat this virus faster and easier. We would like to use this opportunity to invite everyone else to join us and help numerous families and people who need help to survive and get healthy again.”
The Serb will donate an amount of one million Euros through the Novak Djokovic Foundation. The donation will be used to buy more ventilators so that the hospitals may continue to care for the gravely ill people.
Hopefully everyone’s goodwill and help will enable us all to fight the virus and gain the upper hand soon.
