The freshly retired Maria Sharapova signed up for Panchakarma, a type of cleanse that nourishes the body, strengthens the immune system and has many other benefits for the human body. The reason for trying this Indian detoxification technique was to eliminate all the stress caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
“A few weeks ago, I signed up for a 12-day Panchakarma cleanse. Little did I know that I had chosen the perfect time to reset, eat clean, think deep, and calm all overwhelming ambition and thoughts”. Sharapova summarized what diet she had to follow.
“I ate really clean. No coffee, no meat, no dairy, no sugar, no cold food – no smoothies or raw salads”. wrote Maria on Instagram. Some examples of food Maria ate are: dahl (dried) bean soup with black salt, digestive cumin tea, herbal tea – every morning and mid-afternoon.
“I have one rule when a cleanse is involved. I don’t want to starve or drink juices. Ok, that’s two rules. Each day of the treatment, I got pampered with oils, steams, detoxes and meditation. It also tested my patience big-time!
I also had to keep my body toned. Although they say in Ayurvedic practices that exercise is minimal. I mean, I’m not complaining but I can’t take this retirement completely out of control”. explained Maria Sharapova.
If you didn’t know, “Panchakarma is not only for detoxifying the body, but also for rejuvenation — strengthening the immune system, and restoring balance and well-being. It is one of the most effective healing modalities in Ayurvedic Medicine.
It is recommended on a seasonal basis, as well as when an individual feels out of balance or is experiencing illness”. as written on ayurvedichealing.net.
