The Queen gave the future king Prince William and his wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge their rural residence Anmer Hall as a wedding gift.
The Norfolk country house is in the village of Anmer and was built in 1802. The Queen gave the couple the house as a wedding gift and the stunning Georgian property is the most expensive royal residence belonging to a grandchild of the Monarch.
According to a study that looked at the potential rent royals could charge if they leased their homes out on the private market Anmer Hall could be rented out at £44,000 per calendar month.
Research by rental company UNCLE found a month’s rent of £44,000 per calendar month is £14,570 more than the average UK annual salary.
Anmer has 30 rooms and spans over 4,000 square metres and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children have used it as their rural base since 2015.
The house was registered as a Grade II listed building in 1984. The property the Queen gave Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after their 2018 wedding pales in comparison to Anmer and would be the least expensive royal residence to rent out, according to research.
Frogmore Cottage in Windsor would only cost £7,760 per calendar month to rent, according to UNCLE.
The residential property company state that Buckingham Palace would be the most expensive royal home to rent.
In a statement, UNCLE said: “With 775 rooms and a central London location, Buckingham Palace would cost £2.6 million to rent per calendar month.
The property company added that the “home of Princess Anne, St James’s Palace is the second most expensive royal residence”.
The company said: “St Jame’s Palace is at £1.7 million rent per calendar month. “In third is where the Queen and Duke have been shielding during the pandemic, Windsor Castle.
“The castle would rent out for £1.3 million per calendar month.”
