Japanese tennis star, Naomi Osaka has quickly risen to fame and tasted glory in just a short span of three years. The World No.3 won back to back Grand Slams; 2018 US Open and then the 2019 Australian Open and currently is the defending champion at the US Open 2021.
Osaka is highly ambitious and self-driven. Currently she is preparing for the season-opening Grand Slam while quarantining in Adelaide.
Osaka gives a sneak peek into her day as she prepares for the Melbourne Slam
In collaboration with Vogue, the Japanese star shared her simple routine which she follows during her training days for a Major. Her routine is simple; however, following the routine consistently is the key to winning tournaments consistently.
“My training days, they sort of run the same. Practice in the morning, do gym in the afternoon, and then get treatment after.” Naomi revealed in the video with Vogue.
But, before Naomi goes out for tennis practice, her day starts in the kitchen. The 3-time Grand Slam champion’s breakfast includes a variety of bread with avocado, smoked salmon, and kippers. Once she’s done with that, she is straight off to a tennis court.
On the court, the reigning US Open champion dedicatedly hits balls over the tennis net. Then, she shifts to a gym where she works out rigorously with her trainer. And following that, Naomi gets her physiotherapy treatment to enhance her day’s work.
Notably, not many players have won three Grand Slams in the short time that Osaka has won them in; however the Japanese believes that the nerves will start building up within her when the day approaches on which she has to play.
Undoubtedly, the 23-year-old is one of the favorites for the opening Grand Slam of the year and given her experience, she is definitely looking forward to win again.
